But, VR is much more than that; for over twenty years virtual reality has been pushing the edge of innovation in engineering, design, training, and many other areas proving itself as a valuable tool to improve, accelerate, and advance processes and product-to-market operations.
Furthermore, VR is also much more than goggles; we need to understand what, how, and where users need VR to then select the appropriate VR platform to deliver the applications.

Starting with a slightly enriched in one enantiomer, highly supersaturated solution, this out of equilibrium process permits the system to deviate from standard crystallization, in stagnant conditions, in order to obtain a highly enriched mother liquor and deposited crystals slightly enriched in the opposite enantiomer.
The main results of this work can be summarized as:- Using time monitoring performed by stopping experiments at 11 different times, PE appeared as a continuous process;- In situ X-Ray powder diffraction experiments showed that polymorphic transitions are not required for PE, different phases or successions of phases can achieve identical results of preferential enrichment;- Exchanges between enantiomers of mother liquor and the deposited crystals were demonstrated by addition of labeled-L-Arginine as counter enantiomer during experiments starting with an excess of D-Arginine.
To conclude this work a revised mechanism for PE as a continuous process is proposed. Criteria to achieve PE are reduced to four: i a strong difference of solubility between pure enantiomers and racemic compound; ii the racemic compound should crystallize with a solid solution domain; iii the system should stay stagnant during the complete process; iv the initial composition should be in the appropriate zone of the phase diagram e.
The first part of this project involves the comparative study of crystal structures of racemic compounds and enantiomers for four derivatives di-imines of trans-1 ,2- diaminocyclohexane DACH. No conglomerate has been detected and no structural filiation between the enantiomers and racemic compounds has been demonstrated. However, most of these crystallized derivatives show a twofold axis in the crystal packing, either racemic or enantiopure, due to their molecular symmetry, contributing to the originality of these derivatives compared to the cases reported in the literature.
The second part proposes a systematic methodology for the conglomerates quest by salt formation.

In a second series of studied derivatives of DACH di-amines , four conglomerates have been identified and characterized. Three salts of them were resolved by preferential crystallization with the AS3PC method. The third part is devoted to the study and optimization of a process which combines preferential crystallization and racemization in the same reactor applied to a model compound precursor of paclobutrazol: conglomerate crystallization and fast racemization. The results obtained allow envisaging a preparative scale for this type of compound.
The lower performances of the entrainment effect observed in the latter system are related to the existence of an unstable racemic compound.

The influence of the stirring mode and stirring rate on the local supersaturation of the counter enantiomer at the crystal-mother liquor interface, and on PC performances is also discussed. The auto-seeded polythermic process of preferential crystallisation AS3PC seems to be particularly adapted to the double resolution when an unstable or metastable racemic compound exists. An original, systematic, and multidisciplinary methodology led to an improved determination of the factors involved in the molecular recognition and the stereoselective complexation.
The guest molecules have been chosen as an homologous series, and made it possible to study the influence of one molecular parameter on the inclusion geometries and stackings. The study of these compounds highlighted the possibility to resolve racemic mixtures at a preparativescale by means of crystallization processes. The crystal structure determinations by X-ray diffraction made it possible to partially rationalize the possibilities or the limitations of such an approach.
A second part uses the knowledge and know-how acquired to consider the formation of complexes with Z,Z -BABCH synthetic enzymatic inhibitor , with the aim of increasing its photochemical stability, and of developing an efficient method in order to isolate this molecule from its isomers. Another way involved the use of tailor-made salts in order to extract selectively the Z,Z compound.
Ces structures montrent que la liaison entre l'anion et le cation se fait via le solvant. In a first part, various methods of direct racemization and an inversion of configuration were tested. An investigation of racemization using a chemical transformation was performed by a complete and systematic study to reduce the target substrates. A method of reduction was able to be optimized and developed on a multi-gramme scale by using the deoxygenated system potassium iodide and acetyl chloride.
In a second part, a study of synthesis of modafinil and its derivatives by enantioselective oxidation was realized. During this investigation, catalytic and stoichiometric asymmetric oxidation methods were examined. The catalytic organometallic complexes were revealed not very efficient. Nevertheless encouraging results were achieved using chiral oxaziridines. In addition an interesting phenomenon of inversion of the sense of asymmetric induction of reaction was observed with an oxaziridine in the ionic liquids in comparison of results obtained in tetrachlorocarbon.
A typical goal of this work is to control the heterogeneous nucleation of calcium phosphate CaP at surfaces in order to optimize the osseointegration process of dental and orthopaedic implants. Finally, we investigate the influence of the films on the heterogeneous nucleation kinetics and on the structure of CaP obtained from supersaturated solutions. We establish that PhV as the outer layer was a better promoter of CaP nucleation than ChS or PLL, as it lowers both the critical calcium phosphate supersaturation required for heterogeneous nucleation and the induction time.
Beyond a certain degree of supersaturation, phosvitin self-assembles into clusters, which levels the impact of supersaturation on the heterogeneous nucleation kinetics.
